Final Four Baby

We will start off with the title. The football team is in the semi-finals next week. They played last night at the Katy ISD stadium. Joel you would have loved it. It wasn't the Cy-Fair stadium (the one we went to a couple of years ago), but it was still pretty big . The played a team, Second Baptist, who is actually in their district. They lost to them in regular play, but won last night 28-16. The girls were once again supporting the Saders, so were Chad and I. This week we had new shirts and now I have to think of something for next week. We won't be able to be there since it is on Saturday and we will be in Minnesota, but I told Shelly that I would make one shirt and she just has to take it with her.

Emma once again fell asleep in the second half, Chad got to actually see the second half since he was holding her. Maddie and Isaac pretty much played the entire game. It was awesome football weather, like 45degrees. It was a great game to watch. I'm sad we are going to miss next week's game. It is going to be a hard one, but it would be great if they can pull it out.

Now on to Thanksgiving. Mom and dad got here on Monday afternoon. They got onto an earlier flight, so they got here around 3:30. Maddie had been asking for the last week when they were going to get here and so she sure was happy when they did. We didn't do too much while they were here. There was a lot of coloring and playing games. Chad and I did go out on Tuesday night with some friends and then dad and Chad went golfing on Wednesday(see Chad's blog). We managed to get to the outlet mall on Tuesday. Thursday we headed over to Wilke's for food and fun. We watched the Lions/Packers, Chad wasn't too happy about that game. We ate some really great food. We played some games. Chad and Christian played video games. Phill built a fire outside and we sat around and talked. Thanks to rah-rah and bumpa taking the girls home earlier in the evening, we got to hang out a bit longer.

I'm not one to brave the stores on Black Friday. I did have to go get a few groceries from Wal-Mart, but that wasn't until about 10am. It wasn't that crowded. After the girls went down for their nap, I did venture out to Kohl's and Target. Kohl's was insane. I stood in line longer than I shopped, but they extended their early bird specials until 2:30, so I still got them. Target was not bad at all. I found a few good deals and only waited in line for a couple minutes. We then headed out for some pizza before the game and went out to Katy.

It is pouring right now and it is pretty much suppose to rain all day long. I think we are going to get our Christmas decorations out and put those up. We will see how the girls do with the tree.

Here are some pics from Thanksgiving and the game yesterday.

Maddie posing on the stairs.

Mike and Emma playing computer games.

Emma just hanging with Diego.

Phill built a fire outside and we had some pretty good laughs out there.

Chad and Christian keeping warm and playing video games.

This is Rhodes Stadium, this was before the game started.
Chad and Emma keeping each other warm.

Isaac and Maddie always have a good time no matter what the weather.

Myself, Emma, Phill, Maddie and Chad after the game. You would think they lost by the look on Phill's face, but he always has to have his football face on.

Finally A Moment

Well it is 10:30pm here in our house. It is raining outside and the girls have been asleep for almost 2 hours. I'm finally sitting down to write my post I promised. This past week has gone by in a blink of an eye. Last weekend there wasn't much to report. It was a pretty normal weekend for us. We went to the football game and had a good time. The Saders pulled out the 56-0 victory. As usual Wilke's and Karner came over for a couple of beers. After the game we were waiting on a score of another game before we would know what the playoffs would be for us, so after some calling and tracking people down, we got the score and were able to get some playoff stuff figured out. Saturday was a normal errand running day. I got grocery shopping done in record time (that's what happens when you don't have any kids with you). We even managed to drag Christian out of bed for some lunch with us. Of course, he has just gotten up, so he ate breakfast. Phill, Steve, and Chad went to a poker night with Phill's brother. They had a good time, but only Phill's brother Paul, went home a winner. While the guys were gone, Shelly and Christian came over and we played Blockus. It was a really fun game. Sunday was the same old same old. I did go to a jewelry party, but didn't buy anything.

This week we have been getting ready for our company. I had MOPS on Monday and the rest of the week was pretty quiet until we headed to San Antonio for the football game. They ended up only having a half day of school on Friday because of the game, so that was nice. We left by 1 and got to Greg and Jamie's by a little after 4. We got to eat dinner with Greg, Jamie, Naomi, and Jordan who came down from Austin. It was a quick visit with the Truwe's since we were on our way to the game and Greg had a softball game also. The game was a lot of fun. Maddie of course had a blast because Isaac was there too. Both girls showed their Sader support along with their love of the Wilke boys (see pics above). Emma even managed to fall asleep for the whole 3rd quarter and about 1/2 of the 4th quarter. It was a very exciting game. The Saders ended up pulling out the win by 10. With 5 minutes left we were down by 2 and I thought we were done, so did Christa, but they pulled it off and got a big win. Maddie took a nice big goose-egg on her head home. She sort of bounced off Chad's foot and onto the cement. It has gone down a lot already, but I'm pretty sure that she will have a nice bruise.

Today (Saturday) Chad had to help with the senior float in the Tomball Holiday Parade. I got my normal grocery shopping done and the girls and Chad got a nap in. Tomorrow the senior baseball players are coming over for Chad to meet with them. Then rah-rah and bumpa will be here on Monday. They are scheduled for 9:30pm, but might get on an earlier flight. We will see. Maddie knows that she has two days until "rah-rah Maddie's house". That is what she goes around saying. Chad has school Monday and Tuesday and then the rest of the week off. Football will be playing either Friday or Saturday. They are actually playing the team that they had their only lost to in District.

I'm sure we will have some more pictures from this week, so when we get some more I'll make sure to put them up. I am already working on the girls t-shirts for this week's football game. After this week, I'm sure the next few weeks will fly by and Christmas will be here before I know it. Good thing I am pretty much done with my shopping.

Happy Thanksgiving if I don't post before Thursday!!

A short post

We are heading to San Antonio this afternoon for the football team's first round of playoffs and so tomorrow I promise that I will have more information to share and pictures too. The girls will be supporting both the team and the Wilke boys, so I will post when we return from San Antonio.

Fall for a day, maybe two

That is right, fall has happened. It may only be here for two days, but we sure have been enjoying it. Yesterday it only got to about 68 and it is suppose to be the same today. The girls enjoyed playing outside and not sweating. It also helps to have long pants on to slide down the slide faster.

I know that I have become a little bit wimpier since moving here and colder weather (60's) make some people dress their children outrageously. I will say that the girls had on pants and long sleeve shirts. They were wearing just regular t-shirts. I was in long pants and a short sleeved t-shirt. While we were walking to the playground we passed another mom walking with her son. He was probably somewhere between 5-7 months old. He was in a full winter coat with a hat that had ear flaps. The mom also was wearing a knit cap. I know that it was a little cooler than it has been, but it was a little ridiculous. As we passed I said hello, but then I had to laugh to myself a little.

Other than the playground and having to actually rake the leaves, there hasn't been too much going on. After halloween last week, we took it easy. Friday was an away football game, so we waited to hear from Shelly for the score. They lost, so now this Friday will determine what place they get. The problem is that it isn't their game, they are waiting for the result of two other teams. Saturday we spent up at school doing the concessions for a baseball tournament. A club was using the field. There were also volleyball regionals going on in the gym. Chad was announcing for that and then coming back outside to work the concession stand. After volleyball was over we headed over to the Keiper's for some pizza. The kids played for a little while and it helped to be up a little bit later for Emma adjusting to day light savings time. Maddie never had any problems, but Emma sure does. Sunday was football and the playground. After nap we went to the big playground and the girls just had a blast.

I guess our day to day lives aren't as boring as I sometimes think. This week we had a meeting on Monday for baseball. We had to postpone the whiffleball tournament this weekend and so we were coming up with other fundraising ideas. Tuesday we went to dinner with the Keiper's and Odinga's. It was a lot of fun. Once again the kids had a blast. Yesterday we were actually at home. I did have to run to Wal-mart, but we were actually home for the evening. This weekend there is football on Friday, we are going to a wedding in Austin on Saturday and then hopefully Sunday will be football and the usual.

We have a little more than a week until visitors and then I have a feeling that the time is just going to fly before Christmas.

Sorry Bumpa H I don't have any pictures. I know that it isn't a good post now. I have some on the camera that I need to put on the computer.

And the Winner Is....

.....Number 1 the Bratwurst. That is right Maddie was a racing sausage for Halloween. Grandma Heff has always talked about making all the kids racing sausage costumes, but since the six of them are never together, I decided that I would try to make Maddie one. It took a few errors, but I finally got it right. Even last night we had to tweak it a little bit. We borrowed a baseball hat from Gabe and that made it easier for Maddie to see. Emma was a duck that has been worn now for the last three years by someone, first it was Ben, then Maddie last year and now Emma yesterday. So yesterday afternoon we headed over the Sommermeyer's for some dinner and trick or treating. We were half way there and I remembered that I forgot the dessert in the fridge, so it was a quick stop at Wal-Mart to pick up a replacement. We made our own pizzas and watched Finding Nemo while waiting to go. There were 5 families and a total of 8 kids there. We had a pea pod, superman, a leopard, a princess, a witch, a pirate, a duck, and a racing sausage.

Some of the kids are hidden, but they are all there. We headed out and they all were just having a grand ole time. As you know any good racing sausage can't go anywhere without their BrewCrew Team escort, so Chad even wore the Brewers jersey and was Maddie's escort.
Emma was a little unsure at first and just wanted to ride in the wagon, we got her to go to a few houses and after about 4 she caught on and was off. She loved to carry her pumpkin pail up to the doors and just hold it out. She kept looking in the bucket and would have to touch everything that was put in.
I was very impressed that Maddie kept the sausage costume on for so long. It was probably a good 45minutes to an hour. She did need to keep getting her hat adjusted and even needed some rests every now and then. She was a trooper and was having a great time.

We were going strong and Maddie finally just had enough. She wanted out of the sausage, but we did have a back up. So she got changed and hit a few more houses before she was completely done. Emma finally gave up and resorted to being pulled in the wagon, but not before she figured out how to get a sucker open and eat it.So it was back to the house to gather our things and head home. Much to our amazement our kids were the only ones who weren't throwing fits. I think they were so tired that they didn't care at that point. We did have two quick stops to make. We headed over to Odinga's, who just live a subdivision over and showed Kim Maddie's costume. Maddie played with the dogs for a little while, but we still wanted to get over to Wilke's for a quick stop. We loaded them in the car. Emma was already in her pj's and we made it about 2 miles before she was sleeping with a piece of candy still in her hand.
I think over all we had a pretty fun night. I know Maddie did as she is still sleeping at 9:30. We are heading to the boys football game tonight and then I think we will be taking it easy the rest of the weekend.

Hope you enjoyed our Halloween in pictures.

Happy Anniversary to Rah-rah and Bumpa H. We can't wait to see you in about 2 weeks.
